Sea Shell Wreaths

Sea shell wreaths are fun for a variety of reasons. They make great gifts for folks who love the ocean. They are wonderful souvenirs of your family vacation to the beach. They can be the crowning touch for a room with a seaside theme. And you can find or make an amazing variety of styles in this type of wreath, as there are hundreds of different and beautiful shells.

You can find wreaths made of nothing but seashells and others with a good bit of greenery mixed in. If you search long enough you will find exactly what you are looking for. It can be an enjoyable task finding the right wreath, since there are so many unique and lovely wreaths to look at.

If you and your kids like doing arts and crafts, you may want to consider making your own wreath. Making a seashell wreath can be fun for the whole family and enables you to pick the colors, shells, etc. that you like or that match your decor. As mentioned above, you can select and save shells from your vacation and make a fantastic keepsake as a reminder of all the great memories you shared that summer.

Something that makes seashell wreaths more interesting is that you can use just about anything from the ocean to decorate them. For instance, if you find dead starfish, pretty shells, colored pebbles, bits of driftwood or a crabs claw on the beach, you can clean it up and let it dry out, and even paint it to put on your wreath.

To make a wreath you will need to gather these materials ahead of time:

- a circular base (made of metal, straw, pine, etc.) to build your wreath on
- a glue gun and glue sticks
- shells, greenery, dried grass or whatever you want to decorate the wreath
- any additional items such as fishing net, toy anchors, plastic sea gulls, etc.

Simply glue your items onto the base in the order and design you want and let it dry. Add a wreath hanger to the back and you are ready to display your handmade wreath. Seashell wreaths make wonderful Christmas gifts and will look great wherever they are hung.
