Dried Flower Wreaths

Dried flower wreaths are full of natural beauty and color. Displaying a dried flower wreath is a little like creating a magical window from your home into a spring meadow. These wreaths are like a breath of fresh air all year round. You will love the look of these floral arrangements.

If you decide to buy or make a dried flower wreath, you will appreciate these tips on how to properly care for it so that it lasts as long as possible. Because these wreaths are made from real flowers, they are a bit more fragile than those made with plastic greenery and such. In order to protect your wreath there are several things you should know:

1. Do not hang your wreath outdoors as it will deteriorate much more rapidly if it is exposed to the elements.

2. Be sure not to put your wreath in direct sunlight as that will cause the color to fade from the flowers Where forced air will hit it because this will dry it out even more.

3. Do not hang the wreath over a furnace vent or heater as the stronger air flow will tend to make it more dry and brittle.

4. If you display your wreath on a door, be sure to secure it in at least two places so it is not jarred loose with the movement of the door.

5. Dried flower wreaths collect dust just like other home decor. Use a blow dryer on low (no heat) or dust gently with a feather duster to keep it from losing it's vibrant color under dust deposits.

If you would like to make a dried flower wreath of your own design you will want to collect these items first:

1. at least 4 types of dried flowers

2. a styrofoam wreath ring

3. cutting knife

4. pair of scissors

5. a glue gun and green sheet moss from a craft store.

Then wrap the green sheet moss around the styrofoam ring. Cut your dried flower stems to be no more than 3 inches long and arrange them on the wreath by poking them into the foam to create the desired effect. Glue ribbons, glitter, butterflies, birds, etc. on for a charming and unique look.

Dried flower wreaths make fantastic wedding, Christmas or birthday gifts. You can even personalize them by hanging a placard with names and dates beneath the finished arrangement with twine.
