A candy cane wreath is a favorite with wreath makers. Some of the items you will need to make this wreath are:
- a wire coat hanger, - 20 or 30 pieces of curled ribbon in assorted colors & 7-8 inches long - a pair of pliers - a pair of wire cutters - some masking tape - a pair of scissors - about 10 pieces of wrapped hard candy. - 20 small candy canes - some artificial greenery
Straighten out the coat hanger and cut it in half so you can use it to make two wreaths. Take each half and bend it into a circle, leaving four inches or so at the top so that it can be bent into a hook. Fold a piece of ribbon in half. Take one piece of candy and tie it in the center of the ribbon on the twisted paper end of the candy. Tie the candy onto the hanger by knotting the ribbon twice on the hanger. Be sure that you tie the candy close to the hanger so it will be completely covered by it. Curl the ends of the ribbon with the scissors. Keep tying pieces of candy to the hanger until it is covered. Tuck greenery into the wreath wherever you think it looks good.
